Remembering All My Relationships

Scripture: Romans 1:1-17

INTRODUCTION:

  1. Paul felt a deep sense of obligation to the Christians at Rome.
  2. Paul’s relationship to the brethren at Rome began with Paul’s relationship to Jesus Christ.

DISCUSSION:  NOTICE PAUL’S RELATIONSHIP --
I. TO JESUS CHRIST (V. 1).

  1. Paul used the word for a slave.
  2. In Christianity the least will be the greatest.
  3. Each and every Christian is obligated to possess and display the mind of Christ (Phil. 2:5-8).

II. TO HUMANITY (V. 14).

  1. Paul owed a debt he could not pay!
  2. Paul knew he was obligated to the church (vv. 8,9).
  3. Paul felt obligated to all men (1 Cor. 9:16).

III. TO HIS DUTY (V. 15).

  1. As much as is in me!
  2. Being ready does not happen by accident (vv. 16-17).

Conclusion:  We each look at the world around us and see tremendous needs.  To realize it is not enough, we must be ready and willing to do something about it.
