Everyone Is An Example, But Of What?
Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 6:00PM Speaker: Toby Soechting
Scripture: 1 Timothy 4:12-16
INTRODUCTION:
- Lamps do not talk, but they do shine!
- A genuine Christian is the best evidence of the genuineness of Christianity!
- If I am following Jesus Christ, then I must be aware of the example I set.
DISCUSSION:
I. GOD IS OUR SUPREME EXAMPLE.
- “You shall be holy; for I Jehovah your God am holy” (Lev. 19:2).
- Especially, God is our example in loving-kindness (cf. Psa. 26:3).
II. JESUS IS OUR PERFECT EXAMPLE.
- “Pure was the mind of Christ, sinless I see, He the great example is and pattern for me…”
- Jesus lived righteously (Heb. 4:15; Jn. 1:29).
- The pattern and example of Jesus in our lives should make a visible difference (cf. Acts 4:13).
III. OUR EXAMPLE SHOULD FOLLOW.
- “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ” (1 Cor. 11:1).
- Paul instructed Timothy to be an example in: word, conduct, love, faith, and purity (1 Tim. 4:12).
CONCLUSION: Is there a great pattern and example to your life and in your life this hour?
